I saw nothing of the 'Lei Fu' in Deep Bay.

Hon. Colonial Secretary,

I could not send this off on Friday, so have kept it over the week end for further information. I learn now that "Lei Fu* did come to Deep Bay on the 29th. ultimo and then proceeded in the direction of Hongkong. I learn further that Chinese detectives have been sent from Canton to the Deep Bay neighbourhood, disguised as hawkers etc., and that numerous per- -sons have been arrested and sent to Canton, especially from the Sai Lo District, the village of Hu Uk having been raided among others: also that 500 soldiers have been sent to Ham Tau.

I would suggest therefore that the Canton Government might be thanked, and that mention might be made of the villages of Kong Ha and Kak Tin, which are still menaces to the peace of the border, until they can be disarmed and punished.
